As Kevin Csoboths 100th-minute winner sends Hungary through

Scotland's hopes of reaching the knockout stages of Euro 2024 were cruelly dashed on Friday night as they crashed out of the tournament in the most heart-wrenching fashion imaginable.

Steve Clarke's side looked to be heading for a hard-fought draw against Hungary in their final Group A match, but a devastating late goal from Kevin Csoboth sent Scotland crashing out of the tournament.

In the 100th minute of the match, Csoboth latched onto a long ball over the top of the Scottish defence and coolly slotted the ball past Craig Gordon to send Hungary through to the next round.

The defeat was a cruel blow for Scotland, who had produced a spirited performance and looked to be in control of the match for long periods.

However, Hungary showed resilience and determination to come from behind and secure a famous victory. The result will be a bitter blow for Scotland, who had been hoping to build on their impressive performance at the 2021 European Championship.

Instead, they now head home with nothing to show for their efforts, while Hungary can look forward to a quarter-final clash with the winners of Group B.
